One crashes at ten thousand, the other handles a million. The trampoline is slower than foldl' because genericClosure's std::map does O(log n) per step for key dedup, and with compound state deepSeq adds forcing cost on top. We benchmarked both with hyperfine (15+ runs each, 5 warmup, IQR-filtered outliers from GC and system load):
